Carbon monoxide detectors are equally, if not more, important. This is because while smoke can be seen and smelled, carbon monoxide is a deadly, colorless and odorless gas. Without the help of a detector you may never notice its presence in your home until it is too late. Carbon monoxide can come from a variety sources such as car exhaust or a cracked heat exchanger in a furnace, which is why it is also so important to have an annual furnace inspection.
